Brittney Griner is back in the US after a
Russian prisoner swap
SAN ANONTIO — WNBA megastar Brittney Griner has landed on
American soil after 10 months in Russian detention.
Griner touched down at Kelly Airfield in San Antonio
at 4:29 a.m. m. close hour.
She was introduced to Brook Army Medical Center, where she will undergo
an evaluation and meet with her wife, Cherelle Griner.
The 32-year-old Houston native was incarcerated in a Russian penal colony earlier
this year after authorities found cannabis oil in her purse
Sentenced her to 9 years. The Biden administration negotiated
her release in exchange for Russian finger supplier Viktor Bout.
Griner's comfortable return completed an important
goal for President Biden
but she has been criticized for failing to win
the freedom of another American
