Harvey Weinstein found responsible
for rape in l. A. Judgment
After a month-long trial and nine days of deliberations,
jurors on Monday indicted Harvey Weinstein for the rape
and sexual assault of just one of the four accusers
he was accused of abusing.
However, the three guilty counts involving an Italian
actor and the version recognized at trial as Jane Doe 1 dealt
a heavy blow to the disgraced movie mogul and gave #MeToo another second to count. ,
five years after becoming a magnet for the movement.
Weinstein, 70, who has been serving a 23- to 12-month
sentence for years for a New York rape
and sexual assault conviction that is on appeal, could receive up to 24 years
in
California prison while he is sentenced.
He was found liable for rape, forced oral intercourse and any other sexual misconduct
involving the woman
that he said he saw uninvited outside her hotel room
sometime at a movie performance in 2013.
