'everything stopped for a second match' - Shivam Mavi in his first appointment in India

Shivam Mavi had an unforgettable week to end 2022. 4 days after being offered through IPL champions Gujarat Titans

the fast bowler got his name from single in India's T20I squad for the three-fit national series against Sri Lanka, which begins on January 3.

Mavi's selection of him comes as quite a surprise, considering her T20 performances of him over the last 12 months had been mixed

He was released via Kolkata Knight Riders after a lukewarm IPL 2022, in which he controlled just five wickets in six games at an economic rate of 10.31

But, his current form for Uttar Pradesh within Syed Mushtaq Ali's home T20s became more encouraging: ten wickets in seven matches

Mavi hoped he would be chosen for India, but when the time came, he still didn't know what to make of the feeling.

"When we play video games at home, we usually go to bed early to properly relax," Mavi tells ESPNcricinfo

"This wouldn't have been possible without his [his parents'] sacrifices," says Mavi. "Obviously, they were also emotional.
