In a move that attempted to shore up their shortstop position,
the Giants agreed to a 13-year
$350 million deal with after coming up short in the
bidding for reigning American League MVP
and Houston Astros player Carlos Correa. Source:

Earlier on Tuesday evening, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported that
the Mets were going after Correa
and this is why the Giants want to make their offer
as quickly as possible.
There are reportedly four other teams who are also
involved in talks for Correa.

Following the retirement of Buster Posey
and being close to signing Aaron Judge, Correa agreed to join old friend
Madison Bumgarner in San Francisco.
