Neither the Sri Lankan government nor
parliament have the energy to issue directives on the national polling fee,

government will not meddle in the way the election commission exercises its mandate.
Responding to a question from opposition leader Sajith
Premadasa, the minister said the 21st amendment to the constitution
“Neither the government nor the parliament have the energy to disturb the
directives of that commission or alternate their decisions
That energy is completely
invested within the commission
.
As authorities, we have not made any decision to interrupt the activities
of the commission or change its hours
We have also not had any verbal
exchange with them about it,” he said.
“This duty is assumed through the electoral commission, which
must be carried out independently. This is our wish too,” he added
