When the Lifetime docuseries "Surviving R. Kelly" debuted
four years ago, R. Kelly became a free guy.
The R&B singer's career had long been tracked
by allegations of abuse of underage girls
which first surfaced in the early '90s, but he remained
one of the most successful hitmakers
Kelly was briefly jailed and put on trial on a
2002 indictment of 21 counts of child pornography.
Kelly's circumvention of the justice system hurt her
career as an artist, but it didn't stop her.
It wasn't until the premiere of “Surviving R. Kelly” in early
2019 that public opinion began to change.
The series was greenlit before the initial impact
