UConn women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma will return to the team Wednesday night in St. John's.
UConn women's basketball director Geno Auriemma has
rejoined the team and will coach the Huskies after they play in St. John's on Wednesday night
Auriemma has skipped past games after leaving early for the
final week of the group's Midwest Avenue trip. She sat out both of UConn's games
Butler and Xavier. UConn's game against
DePaul on Sunday was postponed because the team did not have enough players.
Associate Principal Professor Chris Dailey
trained at UConn at the Auriemma location. Dailey progressed to 17-0 while taking over for Auriemma
UConn said Auriemma will no longer be available for postgame
interviews on Wednesday. Rather, Dailey and select UConn players could play along.
The absence came just weeks after the death of ella de ella
Marsiella's mother, who turned ninety-one in June
When UConn played four games in 10 days in early December,
Auriemma also visited Philadelphia to visit his ailing mother
Both Dailey and sports director David Benedict have alluded to the stress
of losing his mother while discussing Auriemma.
