'What happened?' Warriors lose a four-factor lead with
13.9 seconds left against Jazz
Simone Fontecchio dipped 1.4 seconds in the final
on a Nickeil Alexander-Walker steal
and the Utah Jazz beat the Golden Country Warriors
124-123 on Wednesday in a breathless finale.
The Soldiers led 113-109 with 13.3 seconds remaining
after a Jordan Poole free throw.
But Malik Beasley, who scored 18 points for Utah,
hit a 3-pointer with 7.8 seconds left.
Alexander-Walker then stripped the ball from Poole, Beasley picked
up the loose ball and lobbed it to Fontecchio running to the basket.
“I couldn't imagine something like that. Just
an extraordinary feeling
just satisfied and excited by the way they gave us there,” said Fontecchio,
a rookie from Italy who will turn 27 on Friday.
He finished with a career-high 18+ points and
made four 3-tracks.
